BorgWarner’s EFR Low Boost Wastegate Canister is the softest actuator in the BorgWarner portfolio. But that doesn’t mean it’s weak, or lacking in structural integrity in any way.
This just means that it is comparable to most OEM turbo setups, particularly in regard to its actuator spring rate. That explains why this particular wastegate canister is commonly used on EFR turbo setups sporting very low boost levels (3-9psi). Being that it is the softest spring rate available in the BorgWarner wastegate canister line, the EFR Low Boost canister remains highly recommended for use on stock engines with mild turbo setups.
