PRL High Volume Intake System for 2023+ Honda Civic Type-R FL5
The PRL FL5 High Volume Intake system uses a 6″ cone filter and an HDPE rotomolded air box that retains the factory air duct and seal for airflow and heat-soak reduction. PRL applied what they learned from the FK8 HVI and made improvements to the construction, materials, and overall design for this platform.
The factory rubber inlet connects to the air box and extends over the core support, sealing to the hood and channeling air in via a duct in front of the radiator support. Third-party testing revealed a 10-20 HP loss when the hood is closed, indicating the factory duct is a point of restriction. PRL developed a secondary duct to address this air starvation issue, maximizing the opening size. The result is a 133% increase in airflow over the OE unit.
The intake uses PRL’s stepped silicone design, matching each silicone piece to each connection point for smooth transitions between all intake components. This minimizes intake tract resistance throughout the system.
No ECU calibration is required. The system carries CARB Executive Order D-878-8 and is street legal in all 50 states. Fits the factory turbocharger inlet pipe only.
